Welcome RandomMan and Numbert Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 22:00 24 April 2008
I'd just like to welcome our two newest members, Numbert and RandomMan, ending our almost 2 year dry spell of new members. We may be a humble, cruddy little site right now, but things are finally starting to look like we may be dragging ourselves out of limbo.

Have a look around, add some comments in the Loony Bin, and perhaps even submit some material for us to host guys, and do stick around, because we haven't even really got started yet, this is just a place holder for things to come.

From Behind The Veil... Posted by: [ Emrys ] on 23:36 24 December 2007
Today, just a few minutes ago in fact, the stars aligned and LegendaryMe managed to make contact. After moving into a new place without internet for a couple months and then starting a business, we lost contact. I did check back here a while ago but the site was down and figured everyone had moved on.

Well, enough with the explanations and veiled excuses: Thank you LegendaryMe and congratulations on the beautiful baby! I have no doubt she will make her namesake proud.

So what does the future hold? I would like to think it begins with a complete rewrite of the site. From there? Eris knows....

    It's a Girl! Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 21:44 25 August 2007
One month ago today (Yeah, I know I should've posted this sooner, but I've been busy and the site's been under attack by spammers), Eris Madilyn was born via c-section.

She and her mother have recovered well, and they're both as cute as ever when not in a bad mood.

    We're Back Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 18:36 09 June 2007
Seems someone used our page's email system to send out like 30,000 spam mails within an hour and the account was suspended, seems something in the index.php script allowed them to do it, so I have to figure out how to fix or remove it without it messing up the site. Gonna try to get Tiogshi to do so, but dunno if I'll even be able to get a hold of him. So if it goes down again, at least you'll know why - the problem wasn't fixed in time or the site was fucked up in trying to fix it.

I'll keep you posted

Happy New Year from Limbo Posted by: [ ] on 07:15 04 January 2007
So, still no word from my cohort and co-creator, Emrys, which is deeply concerning, but while still holding out hope for his eventual return, this last year has brought good things.

I graduated from a network administration course at a training school. Sadly, I didn't learn programming or web design, so still can't work on the site, and still haven't found a tech job to put the skills to use, but hopefully the temp agency I'm going through will find me one soon enough.

But more importantly, Mysteria and I got married on August 23rd, we had a small courtroom wedding in order to help get the courts to allow her to move out of state with her son and plan to have a large ceremony sometime in the future, which is why I didn't make an announcement yet. It was going to be in May of this year, but we're planning on pushing it back now as she is currently pregnant and wants to wait until after she gives birth, so it may not be until May of next year.

We're hoping for a girl and want to name her Eris Madilyn.

All I want for Christmas... Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 17:11 01 December 2005
Is for Emrys to return, why hath he forsaken us? :'(

But, do not fear, though we may pretty much be comatos and drifting through limbo without him, we're not quite dead yet and I'm not planning on abandoning the asylum any time soon, despite my lack of activity around here. I'm just quitely lurking really, and Lunas Majestic Grace has been rather active (her and Konlee have been chatting behind your backs in Sub Rosa, but don't tell them I told you...), so if you want to drop her a PENGUIN, she's more likely to answer you sooner than I am.

Can't say what the future holds for this site, especially without any programmers to update the code, just know that we're still here and still got many things to do, once we've got someone who's able to pull them off. And by we, of course, I mean Me.

So yeah, merry fucking Christmas and all that rot.

    It's that time again Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 08:39 16 December 2004
Have a Neurotic Christmas!

Free Cookies for All! Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 08:54 14 December 2004
Get em while they're hot. And hopefully for our next update, we'll have easier coding for posts and the ability to jump to the last unread post in a thread. The updates just keep rollin on...

So, how do you like the new look? Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 23:44 20 November 2004
Just working out some bugs in it, if you don't see any changes yet, just wait till we're done playing around...

    Remember Kids: Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 23:14 17 November 2004
Learn from your parents mistakes, use protection!

I mean, join the Anarchist/Commie Cult Conspiracy today, we've got free drugs!

But in all seriousness, the development of this site depends just as much on you as it does on us, the more feedback, suggestions, ideas, and submissions we get from you, the better this site will come to be. Emrys and I are hard at work coming up with new ideas for the site and trying to iron out the details of old ones, but I really would appreciate more input from all you inmates wandering around here.

Hear, hear! - Emrys

    Happy 21st Birthday to our 3rd non-prophet! Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 08:56 17 November 2004
Hope you're having a good one Tiogshi, even if you have dropped off the face of the internet and forgotten about us...

A special thanks to desertdog! Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 11:31 16 November 2004
Yes, thank you desertdog, our first archnemesis! Your valliant efforts against us have given us just the spark we needed to revitalize the site, which, before your overzealous and fanatical crusade against us, had been stagnant and dying for far too long. I don't know if you're still out there, plotting how to bring us down, but we couldn't have asked for better publicity than being named an evil Anarchist/Commie Cult Conspiracy. So from all of us in ACCC! we thank you and your ignorant, misguided ways from the bottom of our hearts.

Semicompetencism & Mysanthropic Hall Desktop Themes Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 22:17 26 August 2004
Finally got around to putting up The Radical Taoist's essay on the purpose behind his threads, both here posted by Me and on Ninjai, on Semicompetencism in the Holy Hall of Blasphemy. Sorry it took so long RT, but there we go. There are also a series of MA Hall desktop themes by El Gingero waiting to be put up, but I lack the coding skills to add them to Behind it all. You can find them at: http://www.btinternet.com/~james.florance/MA/

    A Mysanthropic Birthday Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 07:45 25 August 2004
Kinda hard to believe the site's been up for a year. It's been rather slow going, I admit, but we've had some good times, and I'd like to think some interesting submissions. I'm sorry to report that despite my absense to work on things, little progress has been made on my end, though I have been laying the ground work for what could become both a fantasy rpg and a series that will incorporate a lot of my own philosophy on life, though this is understandably a project that will take quite a long time to put together, but I definitely have a better grasp of what I want to do with it than some of my other ideas, so hopefully I'll eventually be able to work myself out of the funk I've been in for months now and get going on this. As for updates to the site itself, I unfortunately can't comment. I've been out of contact with Emrys and Tiogshi both for some time now, Tiogshi I haven't heard from in a couple months, and I'm beginning to wonder what happened to either of them myself, perhaps they'll be kind enough to drop in and say a few words themselves. But, fear not, we have always realized this was not going to be a fast paced project, but a long term one that we tend to keep up for years to come. We're still learning to walk so to speak, and as time goes by, the rate of development will hopefully increase. Sorry there's nothing more special than this for our 1 year anniversary, but I'm lazy and uninspired, and honestly, what kind of Discordian would I be if I did something special on dates that actually make sense? We'll be throwing things at you whenever, so stick around and don't be afraid to make yourself heard, we can use all the help, suggestions, encouragement, and material we can get.

Thanks to all those who've checked out the site and liked what they saw, and a special thanks to all those who've contributed to it in some way, this is LegendaryMe saying hail Eris, and all hail Discordia.

LegendaryMe has Left the Building Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 14:10 30 May 2004
That's right, I'm regretfully anouncing my decision to withdraw my online presence, and in fact, most of my use of the computer. It's not something I came to easily, but the fact is, my inability to do any serious writing continues to degrade with no signs of getting better, and surfing the web, and posting on Ninjai especially, only further distracts Me from making any progress on anything. And so, it's got to stop. I've just got to step back and give myself time to recover. I'll be leaving my computer and IM's running, so if anyone wants to contact Me, there's my ICQ (only Zeconte on there), MSN (zeconte@hotmail), AIM (Zeconte23), or email (zeconte@charter.net), but otherwise, I'll be ignoring the computer as much as possible with the exception of Saturday nights during my games on Palace, and, assuming I can finally get it off the ground, Mondays for the Mortals game I've been trying to start on it. Otherwise, I've got a whole stack of books that need to be read while depriving myself of the internet while trying to get my will to work on the many ideas I've got floating around my head that I've yet to be able to get out, which will be the only other things I'll be using the computer to work on during this sabatical, which will be lasting for as long as it takes for Me to make some decent progress on them.

I realize the Asylum is still struggling to get off the ground, and I've been the one person most responsible for bringing it to this point in terms of content and members, so I apologize for this withdrawal, but this is something I must do, and hopefully things will be better when I finally return with new material rather than ideas that I keep putting off and never making any progress on. So, until then, this is Me saying goodbye.

    Spooky Corps Posted by: [ Emrys ] on 16:09 28 April 2004
The Mysanthropic Asylum is proud to present Spooky Corps, a mysanthropic comic. FadedNumber has been gracious enough to allow us to host his works. In true discordian fashion a new comic will be released whenever he feels like it, so check back often! Click here to bear witness to this mysanthropic masterpiece. It currently resides in The Inspired Hall of the Muses.

The 5th Annual Gathering of the Juggalos!!!!! Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 21:00 01 March 2004
That's right, as of 7:00pm Eastern Standard time, tickets went on sale for this year's Gathering of the Juggalos and I placed my order for a ticket and campsite in the Loons District. There was one other I knew that was going to try and get a campsite, but then his mom and step-dad had a fight and both left, and even when he did get her to place the order, the card didn't work, so we've only got the one, but it's all good, we didn't really need the second campsite, he'll still get his ticket, and we've still got room for two more people on the one I bought assuming everyone who is planning to buys their ticket.

For those who haven't heard, the Gathering of the Juggalos is a 4 day, 24 hours a day long event hosted by none other than the most hated band in the world, the Insane Clown Posse and the Psychopathic Family in honor of their fans, the Juggalos, once again held at Crystal Lakes campground in northeastern Ohio for the second year in a row, and let Me tell you, it is one phat place and makes the Gathering SO much better than it already was at convention centers for the first three years. The freshness is non-stop and if there's one event you'd ever want to attend, this is most definitely it.

Anyone interested in attending this year it's running from Thursday, July 15th to the 19th at 10am and tickets, which will probably sell out before May, are going for $180, but doubt you could find a campsite by now, last year they sold out in half an hour, so plan ahead about what you'll do for a place to stay for it (of course, you could just wander around the campgrounds for as long as possible and passout where you may when you need it). And feel free to send Me a penguin about meeting up for it, because I'll be there, not about to miss one now.

SIX MONTHS OF MYSANTHROPY! Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 07:30 25 February 2004
That's right, today marks the 6th month of this site being online. Though we paid for the site on August 22nd, it happened to be a friday, and for some reason, they never activated our account, and with Midphase being closed over the weekend, we had to wait till monday, the 25th, before it was activated and we could put the site up, which works out quite well because it was conceived on the 23rd of May and born the 25th of August, and both numbers have significance in Discordianism, and as you may know, above all else, this site is based on the principles of Discordianism because it allows us the freedom to do whatever we want with it because Discordianism is the worship of Chaos and Chaos involves everything being mixed together. And in that regard, I'd have to say this site is turning out to be a stunning success even if it's still only crawling along and trying to learn how to walk.

So thanks to everyone who's cared to join, or even just cared to browse and passed along a compliment or two to one of the members, we hope to hear more from you in the future just as we hope to have more to offer.
-LegendaryMe

Over the last six months we have been getting our feet under us, technically speaking, and have big plans for the next six. Now that the foundation has been laid for the asylum, the only way to go is up or forward or whatever. But believe you me we have some exciting developments in mind, so stick around.
You may have heard this before but this site's development depends on you as much as us, so if you have any ideologies, philosophies, bits of wisdom or anything remotely interesting digitize it and send it our way. Share the insight!
Thanks for an interesting six months...

On the Alchemy and Mythology of Spleendom Posted by: [ Emrys ] on 19:38 03 February 2004

    Name Change Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 13:46 01 February 2004
If you happen to notice there's no more Artistic Hall of Expression, no worries, it's simply been changed to the much catchier Inspired Hall of the Muses. Same great content, now blessed by Greek demi-goddesses!

    A new wallpaper! Even a new submitter! Posted by: [ Tiogshi ] on 12:58 29 January 2004
That's right, SSaturn has gifted us a sweet and richly colored wallpaper... much cooler than my severely minimalist style.

Check it out, in the Beautiful Hall of Eye Candy, in the room Behind it All.

If anybody else has got one they wanna put here, send it on in!

Hark! the Second Petal of the Lotus has sprouted Posted by: [ Emrys ] on 00:08 23 January 2004
Rejoice! Dark Rain, the second petal of the lotus will blossom in April. You can read more about it in this weeks Weekly Freekly[insaneclownposse.com]. There is also info some regarding Hell's Pit. Read it.

You may have noticed... Posted by: [ Emrys ] on 20:49 18 January 2004
You may have noticed the switch to two menus on either side. The tools will now be on the right side and all the halls will be located on the left. I feel this lends itself to better organization and balance.
It does make it look like every other submit news site on the net (which we really arent) but ohwell, if you have any suggestions on ways to improve the look, feel free to post in the bug/suggestion thread.

Introducing the Penguin Message System Posted by: [ Emrys ] on 16:56 17 January 2004
The Penguin Express Notification of Grievences to Unpredictable Inquiries Network (PENGUIN) message system is now up and running. This system will be used for a number of things, namely notifying people of the status of their submitted material (ie. a rejection notification will be sent). Also you can send messages to other members by typing in their username (not case sensitive at this time) however beware of sending a message to a non existence user....
You can access your penguin control panel as the first entry under the logged in panel. The number in parentheses is the number of new/unread messages you have.
For more information go to the Looney Bin. If you find any bugs or have any suggestions/requests post there.
Enjoy!

What You Cant Say Posted by: [ Emrys ] on 20:59 12 January 2004
There is an excellent article [paulgraham.com] about taboos, moores and things you cant say.

To quote a particularly relevant bit:
"The trouble with keeping your thoughts secret, though, is that you lose the advantages of discussion. Talking about an idea leads to more ideas. So the optimal plan, if you can manage it, is to have a few trusted friends you can speak openly to. This is not just a way to develop ideas; it's also a good rule of thumb for choosing friends. The people you can say heretical things to without getting jumped on are also the most interesting to know."

That, my friends, is what the Mysanthropic Asylum is all about.

    Official Wallpaper Posted by: [ Tiogshi ] on 02:44 12 January 2004
We've got our first official wallpaper in! A crisp, moody, and minimalist set of high-quality JPEG wallpaper images, for your desktop enjoyment.

It, along with all future submitted wallpapers, shall be in the Beautiful Hall of Eye Candy, in the room "Behind it All". Look there for all your behind-the-scenes imagery fixes.

Stupid people dont know just how stupid they really are Posted by: [ Emrys ] on 00:20 10 January 2004
A recent study [nytimes.com] by Cornell researchers has shown that incompetent people usually don't know they are being incompetent. While this is not news to us Asylum dwellers, it sure is the stuff of nightmares for those with an inferiority complex (typically those who realize that wisdom arises from knowing that they know nothing).

Content Ownership Update Posted by: [ Tiogshi ] on 02:06 05 December 2003
I've just gone through and made sure that submitted content is properly attributed to the original authors! It still says "posted by" with an Admin's name at the top of each room, but at the bottom of every work it now clearly states the original submittant.

Update you have all been waiting for Posted by: [ Emrys ] on 13:39 04 December 2003
We are still alive and kicking. Soon there will be a few more site updates. In the mean time keep submitting that material! Its like free publishing and distribution in one!

... What? you were expecting something interesting?....

Submit your material with ease and grace Posted by: [ Emrys ] on 02:13 08 November 2003
Were you saving all that great material because you didnt know how to get it submitted? Well fear not, your time as come! We now have a submission page where your rant/essay/quote/etc. can be submitted for us to put on the site!

Help wanted! Apply within! Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 02:33 02 November 2003
Well, aside from content, which I've been struggling to get, we also have the problem of actual coding and graphics for this asylum in the making, the coding of which is being done solely by Emrys as I never learned html or php, and the graphics, well, lets just say art on the computer's not easy.. So anyone that has seen this site, knows what they're doing, and are interested enough to want to help with either coding or graphics or even both, apply within the Loony Bin and leave your emails and we'll get in touch and you know, Stuff will inevitably pursue...

Hooray for Richard, Tiogshi, and BambooFlute! Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 15:04 26 October 2003
For being the first three to submit material for the site! You'll find Richard's rant under Free Will and a few of Tiogshi and BambooFlute's poems in the Circle's Corner. Thanks guys, hopefully this will be a growing trend and through more direct means, but otherwise, you'll notice quite a bit of new material from Me especially in the Circle's Corner, got 13 poems in there now (and just edited my poem The Abyss)* some of the intros and especially the Welcome Emrys helped with, we're still delayed on any code changes for the moment though.. Emrys has been busy busy busy and I never learned html or php :'( But ahh well, hopefully we'll get some more things going in the near future, we'll see. Well, till next time, peace.

Please bare with us Posted by: [ Emrys ] on 18:06 12 September 2003
Please bear with us as we get this site up and running. We have great plans, and as it is widely said, Rome wasn't built in a day. What you see here is v0.1. Everything is being built from the ground up, especially the content. Even the forums. So bear with us, and give us a hand if you are so inclined.

Shameless Plea for Material! Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 07:37 05 September 2003
Dear visitor, as you can see, we're just a meager dwelling with little to offer as of right now, but maybe you'd be interested in helping us out, eh? All we need is something, anything, you've created, preferably writings, but certainly not limited to that. This is really a vast tomb to store the thoughts of what people feel are really important, we've just gotta clear a few paths is all, so if you would, kindly leave anything of yours you'd like for us to store here for other visitors to browse at their leisure, and we'll see if we don't have a place for it, ey?

It'll be a slow start, but please do post Posted by: [ LegendaryMe ] on 16:08 31 August 2003
Do be mindful of the collapsing ceilings and exploding floor tiles if you would, these asylum walls are just far too stuffy, don't say I didn't warn you when you get hurt, even if we do decide to blast just as you're passing by... We need to make some room fast.. well, as fast as we can get stuff to fill them with at least. So do feel free to submit something, or at the very least, post in the forums, or even just check back occasionally, or you know, don't, whatever, we'll still be here, because it's going to be a long term project that we'll update as much as we can, which may or may not be very often, we'll see. Anyways.. FIRE IN THE HOLE!

A note about this site Posted by: [ Emrys ] on 17:59 30 August 2003
If you have taken a minute to check out the site you will notice it is still in a state of construction. The initial phase of getting it up and running with the new hosting and under the new domain is complete, and getting the databases set up was a success. Now comes the secondary phase of getting all the bugs fixed, and everything stream lined. After that we can begin to run the site as it was originally envisioned (which will be illustrated in greater detail at a later date).
As you use the site please report any and all bugs you happen to stumble across, as well as all suggestions that pertain to site layout etc. I have created a thread in the Looney Bin which will be used for this purpose.
